Safety Shoe Distributors of O.K.I. was established in October of 1987 and we will be celebrating twenty successful years in the Tri-State area very soon. John Long, owner, has been in the safety shoe business for over thirty years servicing industrial accounts in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Southern Illinois. As a company, we recognize that our first responsibility is to our customer. We are dedicated to providing consistent, high quality products with unwavering, professional service at a fair price. At Safety Shoe Distributors, we expect everyone to demonstrate and display this mission every day, whether it on a shoemobile, in a store or on the phone.

Originally, the main focus of the business was service through shoemobiles brought right to the industrial factories. The shoemobile portion of our business has proven very successful in eliminating costly returns and problems associated with an expensive mail order program. In addition to operating ten shoemobiles covering the tri-state, Safety Shoe Distributors also operates four walk-in shoe locations. Three of the locations are called “FOOTWORKS”, while the fourth location is called “BOOTWORKS”.

The FOOTWORKS stores are located in four areas:

• Cincinnati, Ohio
• Crescent Springs, Kentucky (Northern KY)
• Decatur, Illinois
• Princeton, IN

BOOTWORKS is located in Louisville, Kentucky. Safety Shoe Distributors offers over twenty major brands of industrial footwear with each meeting or exceeding the ASTM standards.

HyTest is the major brand along with Wolverine, Harley Davidson, Converse, Skechers, Caterpillar, Chippewa, Florsheim, Carhartt, Carolina, Dr. Marten and Stanley to mention a few. Safety Shoe also carries a complete line of Carhartt work clothing for the working man and woman. In addition to our shoemobiles and our stores, we have a very busy phone order business and we ship daily through UPS. With the addition of the web site, we will fulfill a long overdue request from our customers, so they can order over the internet on a secure site.
